Sex and Relationships Education – Class 3
Dear Parents
Class 3 have been working on elements of our Sex and Relationships programme over the year. This term we shall be turning our attention to growing up and coping with physical and emotional changes. This goes alongside all of the extremely positive personal and social skills we have been discussing – e.g. assertiveness, communication, responsible decision making and self awareness. We give children the platform to confidently articulate their own developing attitudes, values and opinions. We all enjoy our PSHE/Relationship sessions. We endeavour to answer questions as well as to help children develop positive emotional health and self-esteem, have knowledge of their bodies and be prepared for puberty. Our work should also enable children to protect themselves and ask for help and support.
Over the coming weeks your child may wish to discuss some elements of our work with you e.g. Were they a difficult birth? When did dad start to shave? What happens when you go through puberty? etc. Be prepared to answer, the atmosphere you create and your positive response could have a lasting effect, especially if they need to confide in you in coming years. An open, honest relationship is a wonderful preparation for teenage and adult life.
I may, indeed be asking one or two of you to join us in class to talk about bringing up a baby and some of the practical elements involved.
Our Sex and Relationship Policy is available on request and if you have questions or queries I will be only too happy to chat with you.
Thank you for your time and support.
Yours sincerely
Mike Green
