This online classroom offers free access to great teachers, delivering video lessons, quizzes and worksheets. Available for both primary and secondary levels, it covers a range of subjects. All of the lessons are ordered so your child can learn along with a clear plan. New lessons and resources will be uploaded each week.
Teachers at Langham are able to check this plan and see adjust how it fits into our own long term plan.
BBC iPlayer and the Red Button are hosting Bitesize Daily programmes each weekday for learners aged five to 14. Expert teachers have worked with the BBC to create these fun-packed programmes full of learning and inspiration. Each programme will include a combination of core subjects like English, Maths and Science, as well as other subjects such as History, Geography, Music and French. Langham teachers have an overview of the learning covered through Bitesize Daily and can adjust our Long term planning accordingly.
Inventors - Helter Skelter Marble Runs
While learning about Famous and Significant People, we discovered a British Victorian Inventor, Sophia Barnacle who had invented the Helter Skelter, back in the early 1900s.
We used our STEM skills to create our own Helter Skelter Projects...helped by ideas from the James Dyson Foundation. We are rather proud of the results!
Y5/6 Remote Learning
What should I do?
First of all, keep checking this JET CLASS page on the school website. I will put useful information on this page and update it as we go along.
Students have their login details where necessary for the sites we subscribe to and I have suggested a few others which will be really good too. Remember I will be able to comment and give feedback through the lessons I create and share via www.nightzookeeper.com and anything else Mrs K will pass on via email :)
www.sumdog.com - the children have their login accounts and can access personalised tasks set by the class teacher. The teacher can see how often the children access the resources and follow their progress too. (If this is accessed via a tablet, then you will need to download the free app)
www.spellingshed.com - again the children have their login details and they can practise statutory spellings through a number of different games and techniques.
www.nightzookeeper.com - the children can use the website to write and receive personalised feedback from their teacher to help them edit and improve their writing. There are spelling games to reinforce learning and the class teacher can also create and assign lessons to cover other curriculum subjects, again with the ability to see what the children have completed and offer personalised feedback.
www.kahoot.com - teachers can assign a Kahoot challenge for the class, to access the game, the children will need to check the Jet Class page on the school website to find the game PIN - by joining the game students play at their own pace. (Kahoot on a tablet needs a free app downloading) I will set these as Class Challenges, which means I can monitor results and see who makes it onto the podium!
Create a duolingo account for free and enjoy practising your French everyday! I have done the same and we will be practising at the same time!
BBC Bite Size KS2 is perfect for remote learning, it covers all topics and subjects, with video clips, information and quizzes to check your learning! Great for all sorts: geography, history, art...everything!
- satscompanion.com - this website gives access to Grammar and Punctuation; Reading Comprehension practise and also, Maths Arithmetic and Reasoning
- This link takes you to an online collection of past papers if you want to download and print some at home for free
